Design and Create your site
You can use a variety of tools to help you do this. For
recommendations please visit FAQ: Web
Design Tools
Upload your site to ECPI
This will require an FTP program. Some of the web design tools
include a FTP, but you can also download them from the internet.
For an explanation of FTP and recommendation of FTP programs,
For most FTP programs, the default settings work fine.
You will
need to know 3 important pieces of information.
Host Name/ Address
ftp.ecpi.com
User ID
Your ECPI username
Password
Your ECPI password
Once you have successfully started and launched the FTP
program, it
will automatically start in your shell on the ECPI
server. You
will need to create a folder named public_html This is the folder
that should house all of your HTML files.
You will need to name your first page index.html (all lowercase index.html NOT index.htm) Other pages
can be named anything you wish.
You will need to transfer all HTML files and images onto the
ECPI
server that you want as part of your website.
The URL or address for your new website will be
http://www.ecpi.com/~username
Congratulations! Your web site is now part of the World Wide Web!
