Texas Impact's publications analyze current public policy issues in light of Judeo-Christian beliefs and values. Texas Impact's newsletter includes timely information about the Texas Legislature, thoughtful analysis of current policy issues, and essays by clergy and other leaders from across Texas. Texas Impact also provides more in-depth background papers and study packets on selected policy issues. Impact's website features expanded coverage of policy issues, as well as calendars of political and religious events in Texas and links to other sites in the areas of religion, public policy, and social justice. Through email, mail, fax, and telephone, Impact provides timely information to network members on legislation as it develops between legislative sessions and as it progresses during each session. Impact conducts statewide and regional workshops to provide training on effective advocacy. Impact links people who provide social and humanitarian services in local communities with the larger policy issues affecting the people they serve, and brings them to Austin to tell of the needs in their communities. Impact participates in coalitions of like-minded organizations to develop policy campaigns, such as the recent successful campaign for the new Children's Health Insurance Program. Impact's director and board members meet with members of the Legislature, legislative staff, and agency staffs to inform them of Impact's legislative objectives and to provide useful information on those objectives. |
